Academic Profile
Dr. Pankaj Borah is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Political Science at Madhabdev University, Narayanpur, Assam. He has over a decade of teaching experience, having previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Dhakuakhana College for eleven years. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati, and as a faculty member at the State Institute of Rural Development, Guwahati, Assam.
Dr. Borah completed his postgraduate studies in Political Science at Gauhati University and did his Ph.D. from Dibrugarh University, Assam. His doctoral research, titled “Understanding Cultural Dimension of the Autonomy Movements of Assam: A study on the Bodo and Mising Movements” reflects his engagement with issues of identity, culture, and regional politics.
In addition to his academic career, Dr. Borah is actively involved in filmmaking. His debut feature film, Noi Kotha (River Tales)—for which he served as scriptwriter, director, and producer—has received both national and international recognition and premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival. He has also directed and produced two short films, Aparajita (The Invincible) and Kuwalir Xipare (Beyond the Mist).
Beyond academia and filmmaking, Dr. Borah has been engaged in cultural activism for over fifteen years, working to promote socio-economic and political awareness in rural communities. He is the founder of the Socio-cultural organization Pathik, through which he has performed thirty-six street plays addressing social issues. He is also a regular columnist for Amar Asom, a leading Assamese vernacular daily newspaper
