The Department of Political Science at Madhabdev University, the erstwhile Madhabdev College, was established in 1964 along with the foundation of this great institution. With over six decades of distinguished service, the Department has been rendering significant contributions to teaching and scholarly pursuits in the field of Political Science. It has produced numerous scholars, eminent educationists, administrators, and legislators who have served the nation with distinction. Currently, the Department offers Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes, and is in the process of launching a Ph.D. programme in the near future.

• To promote the systematic study of parliamentary and electoral politics in India, with the objective of strengthening awareness of and commitment to democratic institutions and practices.
• To undertake research on socio-political issues pertaining to North-East India, with a focus on preserving and promoting ethnic diversity, ecological sustainability, and indigenous cultures.
